Mate I. Zgombic
(pronounced "MAH-teh")
 
Mate leads CapTablePro with a clear mission: to make equity management radically transparent and founder-friendly. With over a decade of experience in legal operations, cap table structuring, and venture compliance, he’s helped hundreds of startups navigate ownership, fundraising, and strategic growth.

Before launching CapTablePro, Mate founded and exited Venture Paralegal Inc., where he built scalable support systems for early-stage teams. He’s worked closely with leading law firms—including Am Law 100 firms and boutique specialists—to align legal strategy with operational execution, ensuring founders are prepared for diligence, investor negotiations, and long-term equity planning.

Mate also served as an advisor to Carta, helping refine platform workflows and bridge the gap between legal complexity and founder usability. His insights contributed to Carta’s service delivery and product evolution, with a focus on making equity more accessible and actionable for startup teams.

He’s known for translating complex equity concepts into clear, practical strategies—always with the founder’s perspective in mind. Whether supporting a first-time founder or a seasoned operator, Mate brings hands-on experience, strategic clarity, and a commitment to responsiveness.
 
Outside of work, Mate finds inspiration in the rhythms of the Pacific Northwest. Whether experimenting with seafood recipes, tracking salmon runs, or supporting local high school sports, he brings the same curiosity and care to his community that he brings to every founder relationship.
